Style Edit: Foliage and Greenery

Textured greenery and foliage are adding the wow factor to venues all over the UK. Whether you’re opting for a botanical themed wedding or you simply like the fresh, minimalist feel that using greenery creates, there’s so many ways in which you can incorporate this trend into your wedding decor.

The great thing about using greenery and foliage is that it’s super versatile so never be afraid to ask your Ambience stylist how you can play around with this look. Our favourite greenery choices are eucalyptus, ruscus, leather leaf and ferns and dependent upon the tones and other colours that you will be using with the foliage, we can best advise which type would most suit your wedding decor.

Top Tip – Foliage alone can look quite heavy and dependent upon the lighting in the room, we’d recommend lifting the colours with lighter, neutral flower heads introduced or by adding an abundance of candlelight.

Top five ways to incorporate greenery into your wedding decor

Centrepieces – If you’re having round guest tables then foliage wreaths surrounding candlelight look very effective. Alternatively if you’re having long banquet style tables then consider long foliage runners to extend the length of the tables with candlelight interspersed.

Ceremony arch – Many brides and grooms in 2020 and 2021 are opting to use a wedding arch or moongate to say their vows in front of. Adding foliage to these or larger arrangements made up of florals and greenery will create a really impactful ceremony look.

Wedding Stationery – Leaf stencils are a great way to subtly add botanical artwork to your Save The Dates, wedding invitations, place name cards, menu cards and seating plan.

Chair decor – Chiavari chairs styled with chiffon drapes look very effective with stems of greenery tucked into the back. To make your bride and groom chairs stand out you could opt for a more striking look with a foliage garland or wreath.

Bouquets and buttonholes – Your bridal bouquet doesn’t need to be filled with florals to look incredible. A loose, unstructured arrangement with a mix of foliage and greenery can be just as impressive!

Another top tip for good measure! – Each wedding venue has it’s own features and characteristics that will influence your styling choices but keep an eye out for staircase bannisters, window ledges, fireplaces and entrances that could be brought to life by simply adding foliage stems with fairylights or microlights.
