A Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired wedding.
Feb 28th, 2025
Our talented stylist, Emma from Ambience Derbyshire, recently collaborated with a fantastic team of industry suppliers including fellow Ambience stylist, Ellie from Herefordshire at the stunning Kedleston Country House to deliver a Midsummer Night’s Dream styled shoot. Here’s how Emma adapted this Shakespearean tale into a stunning wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast design…
A nature-inspired colour palette
With this theme, think soft greens, deep purples, pale blues, creamy whites, and vibrant floral patterns, reflecting the natural forest environment. In this particular concept, Emma layered up midnight navy against a powder blue and enhanced with lots of gold edged detailing and accessories for a modern day, magical feel.
Whimsical details
To capture the essence of this theme, whimsical details were introduced throughout the styling. Emma chose to use cotton rag paper for the place names and menus to make them look like pages straight from the book. With hand painted, gold edging and navy feathers to represent the quill that Shakespeare would have used, the place settings offered an authentic and luxurious look.
Feature areas of the venue were styled with moss to incorporate the ultimate forest feel. If you’re unsure of how best to add this within your own chosen venue, consider styling out some of your wedding accessories such as the candlelight defining your wedding aisle or your table centrepieces for an effective way of bringing in moss and offering an indoor/outdoor vibe.
We loved the simplicity of the cake design. This was about allowing the flowers to bring the design to life, pulling through varying tones of blue and the texture of the greenery.
The caterpillar table layout
Even the table design itself featured the highly anticipated new layout for 2025 and 2026 weddings – known as the caterpillar or serpentine table layout which effortlessly flowed throughout the centre of the room similar to that of a river flowing through the forest.
Flowing silhouettes
It was all about using layers of chiffon and silk to evoke movement and grace. For the ceremony chairs, our Ambience stylists dressed with free flowing chiffon drapes for a soft and romantic feel.
Another wedding trend tipped to be huge over the course of the next 18 months is room and ceiling draping – transforming a space into an opulent and intimate setting filled with romance and atmosphere. Emma showed how this could be achieved by installing ceiling drapes alongside draping on the tables and chairs for a seamless finish which worked perfectly in the light and airy space of the Orangery at Kedleston.
Effortlessly romantic bridalwear
The model wore a slip dress with a sheer topper that featured floral and leaf embroidery. This was complimented with a gorgeous, whimsical hair style. The groom contrasted in a navy suit which teamed with the whole feel of the shoot perfectly.
