An autumn wedding day offers so much…
Yes, it might seem more traditional to get married in the spring or on a (hopefully) sunny June day, but autumn weddings have a charm all of their own.
First off, you’re still likely to have some good weather. In recent years we’ve had some beautiful ‘Indian summers’ with warm days right through September and October.
Guests and autumn weddings
Furthermore, if you’re planning a wedding, then you’re more likely to find that your guests can make an autumn weekend wedding as many people will be back from summer holidays and back in the routine of school runs, work and everyday life.
And finally, an autumn wedding could come in that bit cheaper as it’s off season and that goes for your honeymoon too.
So if you like the idea of tying the knot on a golden September or October day, then what about colours?
The first thing to do is to go outside, look around and see what colours Nature inspires you with.
Your colour palette is going to be rich oranges, russets, soft greens, copper, straw plus some rich red tones that reflect the shades of autumn berries.
All these hues work beautifully together.
Golden autumn leaves
If you’re thinking of DIY wedding stationery, maybe you could get extra creative and put two golden autumn leaves inside every invitation.
And of course, your confetti could also have autumnal shades which is something our wedding stylists could help you with.
What’s more, your envelope colours could be in shades of golds, reds and earthy browns.
Why not let each bridesmaid wear a different colour. You could do just one colour but why stick to one when there are so many beautiful shades to choose from. A blonde bridesmaid may feel she looks more fabulous in a rich autumnal red, while a brunette bridesmaid may prefer to wear a shade of deep berry.
Your wedding food
Here we’re going to say think local and seasonal. Autumn is an amazing time for fruits and berries so make the most of them. Talk to your caterer about what’s on offer but we’re liking the thought of blackberry crumbles, roasted root vegetables and maybe some spiced pumpkin soup on the menu.
Remember that game is in season in autumn too and is relatively inexpensive so you might consider that as an option. It’s also healthy and organic of course!
Decorating your venue
Here is where autumn can really come into its own. You only have to look around to see the props that Nature puts your way naturally. Pumpkins, wood slices, wild flowers, branches of golden leaves.
If that all seems a bit daunting but you really do want an autumn-inspired wedding day then your best plan really would be to get in touch with one of our stylists.
An autumn wedding interior
Our stylists can meet you at the location of your chosen wedding venue and discuss how to show off the features to create the best effect. If the venue is in a great location but the room itself is a little uninspiring, then the stylist may suggest room draping.
The stylist will also supply a whole range of wedding chair covers, sashes and table linen in autumn shades for you to choose from.
Fancy having a line of pumpkins along the pathway into your venue? No problem, that’s exactly the sort of thing one of our stylists will sort for you along with some new ideas that you might not have considered.
Our stylists can work with your wedding caterer to present drinks and food in an elegant and eye catching way. They’ll have all the props you need such as cake stands, hanging lanterns and lighting to make your wedding look the way you want it to without you having to source the props yourself. And you won’t have to worry about where to store them afterwards either!
We have stylists up and down the country so there’s certain to be one near you and getting in touch doesn’t mean you’re under any obligation. You may also find that having a stylist actually saves you money. You could opt for a less expensive venue but make it look like the venue of your dreams with their help. You’ll find your local wedding stylist here.
