How to create a champagne tower
It’s the must have stylish addition for elegant affairs in 2024…nothing says you’re at a swanky gathering quite like a champagne tower, right?! Making an appearance at weddings and a wide range of events, here’s our step by step guide to creating your own champagne tower!
Top tip to get you started!
Firstly it’s an absolute must that your tower is built on a solid foundation! Make sure there’s not a wobbly table in sight! You’ll also want to make sure that you’re using the “coupe” style champagne glasses as these are wider and more easily stacked.
Reduce by one each tier
Build your tower up in squares and reduce by one with each tier. So for example if you start with 6 glasses by 6 glasses on your bottom layer, the next tier will be 5 glasses by glasses, 4 glasses by 4 glasses and so on until you’re left with you one glass on the top.

How many glasses will I need?
Here’s a rough guide of the number of glasses you’ll need to build your champagne tower:
5 tiers – 55 glasses
6 tiers – 91 glasses
7 tiers – 140 glasses
8 tiers – 204 glasses
9 tiers – 285 glasses
10 tiers – 365 glasses
How many bottles of champagne will I need?
Add up how many glasses you have, multiplied by how many ounces the glasses hold, and that will tell you how many ounces of champagne you’ll need. Be sure to check the ounces on the bottles that you’re wanting to get to make sure you have enough.

How to pour the champagne…
You can either leave all the glasses empty and pour the champagne into the top glass so that it eventually overflows and spills all the way down the tower, filling the glasses as it goes down or you can build the tower with the glasses mostly full already. Just remember to leave the top glass empty so that you still get to at least fill the top glass and see it overflow which is great for celebratory pictures!
When should we pour the champagne?
A champagne tower is a great opportunity to get your guests together, very much like the cutting of your cake or first dance. Pick a time in the order of service such as after the ceremony or after speeches and let your photographer know the plan so that they can capture the moment for you!
