Look at the celebrity weddings that have been celebrated this year – we’re thinking of Kim Kardashian’s nuptials to Kanye in Florence and George Clooney and Amal getting hitched in Venice and you’ll see that there’s a bit of a theme going on..
Today’s celeb couples want a stunning backdrop to their big day – a bit of history, certainly atmosphere and a real sense of occasion.
Now of course, not all of us can get married in such high level places – palaces and the like.
(Although in fact some celebs choose to have a very low key wedding day – look at Keira Knightley and Cheryl Fernandez Versini who both had quiet weddings only attended by close friends and family.)
The one thing we’d say about all these weddings is that the couples involved had chosen a location that really suited the sort of day they wanted – whether it was a quiet celebration or a big, splashy, papaparazzi-aware affair.
Which is just what you should do
Think about the sort of wedding day you want. It’s between you and your husband to be – don’t feel you have to get the approval of your friends and family for your venue.
If you want to get married in a picturesque church and then have a country garden type wedding reception then it’s your call. Or if the idea of that is totally contrary to your personality you could investigate holding a festival-themed wedding day or a small, chic city centre wedding in an historic venue.
If your budget doesn’t stretch to a palazzo in Venice or a castle in Florence then don’t worry. You’ll be amazed at how our stylists can transform a venue that seems uninspiring into something an A-lister would be proud of.
You may love the idea of getting married outside but worry about the changeable weather we have in the UK. In which case, set up your ceremony outside (remember you can get married in the UK out of doors as long it’s in a licensed venue with a fixed roof – like a permanent gazebo). Then ask our stylists to decorate your chairs with sashes and flowers to really give the wow factor when your guests start arriving.
One of our specialities is room draping. Even the dullest of areas can be transformed into a fairyland. We use lighting, draping and sashes to create a spectacular setting for you – and some of our brides have been reduced to tears of happiness when they see what we’ve done.
You may be interested in using a local venue that fits all of your priorities – it’s handy, affordable, has great catering and plenty of accommodation – but you don’t particularly like the style in which it’s decorated.
With room draping you don’t have to worry about what it looks like – just hand over to our team and they’ll do the rest. All you’ll have to think about are the colours you choose, the floral arrangements and the kind of mood you want.
Don’t forget the ceiling of your venue. It may not have a fabulous trompe l’oeil artwork for your guests to gaze at – in which case our talented stylists will draw on their imagination to create a real showcase. We often use lanterns to add ceiling interest – and they’re very versatile, coming in a choice of colours. You can go for a multi-coloured effect or monochrome black and white (ideal for a winter wedding) or soft pastels. Alternatively in winter we could use red, gold, silver or deep green shades to create a Christmassy effect.
Don’t forget that the look of your wedding reception also extends to wedding favours. If you’re not completely sold on the idea of favours then you could tuck a beautiful flower into each guest’s napkin (and that way the men will have an instant buttonhole!) This is something our stylists would put in place for you before the reception (because to be honest, you’re going to be very busy on the morning of your wedding).
In addition, you’ll have the confidence of knowing that our stylists are very particular about detail and know exactly the look you’re after – and will help you get it right.
A-listers always have their own team of personal stylists to hand – whether it’s to decorate their homes, choose their clothes or make sure they’re always ready to be papped. You’re going to have a lot of photographs taken on your wedding day, so it’s the one day you should be styled to perfection too!
