Real Wedding Feature – Marc and Emily at Middleton Lodge
July 18, 2020
This week we’re bringing you inspiration direct from newlyweds Emily and Marc who got married in February 2020 at Middleton Lodge. A beautiful chic wedding styled with a neutral colour palette and pops of dusty pink to enhance the exposed brickwork and surroundings of the venue. We spoke to Emily and Marc as they look back on their special day.
Venue
Middleton Lodge is an 18th century Georgian country estate set in 200 acres of private North Yorkshire countryside. Just a five minute walk from the main house is the wonderfully romantic Fig House, with views across the restored Walled Garden. English country garden weddings are idyllic in the Fig House, styled with velvet greens, real fig trees and garden antiques.
“We got married at Middleton Lodge in the Fig House. I found the venue on Facebook it just randomly popped up on my news feed and I said to my partner we need to view this venue. The minute we saw it we were both blown away it was the most beautiful place with a walled garden which made it so private and just ours for the day!”

Styling
Although I did a lot of the décor myself, Emma from Ambience Venue Styling Teesside was a massive help with the finishing touches that I just did not have the time to do. She helped me with ideas when I was in a panic and thought the day wouldn’t look how I wanted it to. They made it stress free for us both while making our venue look incredible!
-As soon as our guests arrived they all said we knew this was Marc and Emily’s wedding by the way we had decided to have our wedding décor, everything was linked to us and our lives from growing up to now. It was done to perfection and not a thing out of place (I like everything a certain way haha!)
Food
“Another love of ours is good food and Middleton Lodge certainly pride themselves on their tasty dishes. It’s homely food mixed with fine dining and a lot of it is grown on the grounds which we loved!”

Advice for engaged couples from Emily and Marc
A useful tip for all couples is that early planning is key, don’t leave things to the last minute! There is not one thing that we would change about our wedding day, we loved every second. One thing I would suggest is don’t get so wrapped up in it all that you forget to enjoy it as it goes so quickly!
