Ways to make your wedding venue feel romantic

On average couples view 3 venues before making a decision on THE ONE they want to book for their wedding day. With a criteria list in hand at each viewing, you hope that there’s a venue out there for you that ticks every box and without even realising you start imagining how the rooms can be transformed to suit your style and personalities! One of the biggest considerations when it comes to the space in which you’ll celebrate with your guests, is setting the mood – so how do you deliver that all important look that feels romantic and atmospheric?

Lower the ceilings with the art of illusion

Look up to the skies and in replacement of the stars, opt for floral and/or foliage hanging installations filled with hanging tea light baubles. This can be achieved in many ways depending on your venue and the tables in which you’ll be using. Frame work can be added to trestle tables to form a structure in which to attach your chosen floristry to. Alternatively if you’re using round tables, centrepieces of artificial trees with hanging tealight baubles or perhaps pedestals of florals with baubles attached will create a similar feel. Getting married in a barn venue that has feature hanging displays such as wrought iron or wooden cart wheels? Style these in replacement of the actual tables to enhance the room as a whole.

Statement signage

Signage so chic it’s like having your best friend stood at the entrance welcoming everyone to celebrate! Greet your guests with a personal, warm welcome! Wedding signage in 2023 is all about bold, statement pieces and you’re spoilt for choice with the designs available on the market so avoid overwhelm and opt for wedding stationery that compliments your styling. Personal touches always add romance.

Table layout

Round tables sit together perfectly which is great if you’re trying to maximise the space within your venue. However, if you’ve fallen in love with the space a venue has to offer but your guest list is somewhat more intimate than it’s capacity holding, switch out your tables for a mix of banquet and squares. The hard lines and angles mean they need more space which is a great way to fill a room without having to increase your guest numbers.

Dim the lights

Let the natural glow of candlelight put your tables in the spotlight. Ask your venue if they can dim the lights and ramp up the romance levels 110%! Speak to your Ambience stylist about how to strategically position your candlelight and the styles in which to use to best enhance feature areas. You might choose to light up dark corners with larger storm lanterns or add uplighters for an edgier vibe – perfect for casual seating areas or illuminating pedestals of florals.

Twilight weddings

A great option for couples that are looking to get married without the big price tag as wedding venues generally charge less for a twilight wedding due to the shorter day and no “traditional” wedding reception. Twilight weddings are becoming more popular as we move through 2023. Taking place in autumn and winter when we lose the daylight in the early evening, couples are choosing to hold their wedding ceremony from 5pm onwards to make the most of the magical setting that can be created with candlelight and fairylights!
