Choosing your decor and florals got you feeling overwhelmed?

Here’s our top tips to get you started!

We understand, it’s difficult and with a market that’s filled to the brim with stunning decor inspiration, it’s hard to even know where to begin. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start with styling your wedding, here are the first 5 things to focus on to bring clarity and direction to your vision:

Define your overall style and mood

Before diving into details, take a moment to think about how you want the day to feel. Romantic and whimsical? Modern and minimal? Warm and rustic? This will help you build a foundation for all future styling decisions and keep your look cohesive. Create a Pinterest board or moodboard to visualise your preferences. Alternatively save content that instantly catches your eye on social media as this is your sub conscious telling you what you like!

Choose a colour palette

A defined colour palette is one of the easiest ways to unify your styling. It helps guide decisions on florals, linens, attire, stationery, and more. Think about the season, your venue, and what colours resonate most with you as a couple. If you’re unsure which colours work best together, speak with your stylist who will be able to advise you on the best combinations to achieve your desired look

Focus on the ceremony backdrop

This is where your “I do” moment happens, and it’s one of the most photographed spots of the day. Whether it’s a floral arch, draped fabric, or a custom structure, styling this focal point sets the tone and creates a beautiful setting for your vows. Consider whether you’ll have a registrar table (these are not commonly used now) and offer you the ability to go big with styling that all important spot!

Tablescapes and wedding breakfast decor

Guests spend a large portion of the day seated at their tables—so this is a great place to focus attention. Once you’ve got an understanding of the layout of the room and whether you’ll be using long banquet tables, round tables or even the new trending serpentine concept, this is where you can start getting big decisions ticked off your list! Start with the basics: centrepieces, linens, glassware, and signage. Well-styled tables instantly elevate the reception space and there’s so much flexibility here, allowing your creative juices to really come into action.

Florals

Flowers are a powerful styling element that can transform a space. Begin with the key pieces: your bouquet, ceremony florals, and centrepieces. You don’t need to go over the top—strategic, intentional floral design goes a long way in creating impact and your Ambience stylists will always look at ways that your florals can be best repurposed after your ceremony so that you can enjoy them all day.

Start with these five, and the rest of your styling will begin to fall into place more naturally. Remember: keep your vision personal, meaningful, and true to who you are as a couple.
