On the 6th November, the prestigious five star Grantley Hall, hosted an exclusive event with British wedding gown designer, Jenny Packham in association with The Harrogate Wedding Lounge. Our talented stylist, Amy, owner of Ambience Harrogate was given the honour of being asked to style the event and what an incredible evening it was, we just had to share it with you!
The event was to showcase the 2020 Bridal Collection named “It Started With A Kiss” and what was incredibly exciting about this was that Jenny Packham was going to be there in person, interacting with the guests over champagne and nibbles and available to answer any questions that they may have about her designs and inspiration behind her wedding gowns.
The whole event took place in the Grantley suite, which is a separate building to the main hall and features a large room which is idyllic for large scale events. The evening was essentially split into two sections, the first being a champagne arrival followed by a catwalk and meet and greet with Jenny Packham herself.
Amy was shown the marketing campaign for the latest bridal collection in order to put together a luxury design.
The hosts wanted to maintain the interest and feel throughout from the initial entry to the Grantley Suite, through to Bar Eighty Eight and the journey down to Valaria’s which is situated underground. We spoke to Amy who said the following:
We wanted to create photo opportunities along the route and it was important that the style that we were to create was in keeping with the bridal collection and that it was elegant but impactful. I knew that to be able to create a wholesome look that hit the brief in its entirety I would need to bring onboard some very talented creatives so it was a pleasure to collaborate with Charlotte from Love Lights the Way and Victoria from Victoria Ivy Floral Designs.
The styling began before you even entered the Grantley Suite… Leading the way to the entrance doors we created a guiding hand of what was to come, lining the stairs with beautiful lanterns and foliage sprigs against the hand rails leading to the main doors.
I wanted to create an impact from the moment the doors were opened. We achieved this by creating layers and layers of varying heights of candlelight displayed on acrylic pedestals. To add interest to the design we placed golden frames at strategic points. To create texture and depth we interweaved various foliage around all of the candlelight, you just wanted to touch it! Throughout the whole design we kept a simple colour palette of neutrals, greens and golds.
As you entered the main foyer, you were greeted by a large living wall, surrounded with lush foliage and bespoke made Jenny Packham sign created by Love Lights The Way. Victoria created a stunning wild meadow, keeping it classic with lots of foliage and pops of cream flowers which ran the full length of the staircase! To sit in and amongst the meadows we accessorised with large clusters of candlelight, varying height cylinder vases with both pillar and floating candles and lots of gold mercury votives.
The main focal point was to be created downstairs and we wanted to create a design led and impactful area where the guests could have their photo taken with Jenny Packham. Charlotte very kindly agreed to have a new neon sign commissioned just for this event which is the name of the collection, “it started with a kiss” – truly stunning!
Victoria brought the display to life with delphinium, dahlia and ranunculus, gorgeous lush green foliage of pistache, eucalyptus, ivy and ferns that created a beautiful half moon shaped curve along the floor enhancing an intimate space for you to have your picture taken.
Upon lighting the candles at dusk, it made the whole design come alive! To hear people gasp as they entered this area was truly heart-warming and made me immensely proud of what we all achieved. I think I rode that high for at least two days after which matched the amount of time it took my body to recover! It’s fair to say, it is a career highlight for me and just shows you what you can achieve when you work as part of a team.
