Dusty Blue Wedding Inspiration

Aug 08, 2020

Earlier this year we collaborated with a talented team of wedding suppliers at Saltmarshe Hall in Yorkshire to showcase key looks, new products and offer style inspiration that simply oozed elegance!

Colour Palette

We wanted to create an opulent look with a really minimal colour palette. Dusty blue is huge in the wedding industry right now so we used this as the accent colour against a clean white base and accessorised with delicate gold details. Dusty blue is tipped to be the new “blush” which so far has been the popular shade of pink incorporated into styling by many clients for a number of years now. At Ambience we’re welcoming the colour with open arms as it offers such versatility, making it suitable for every season!

Banquet Wedding Reception

We set a banquet table seating 24 guests down the centre of the room and used the decor and ornate features of the venue to pull out the blue tones from the styling and provide a natural, informal background to the setting.

Banquet dining is often chosen by clients who want a more intimate/sociable celebration for their wedding or event so we focused on creating a tablescape that extended the length of the table, that was low level and that was full of interest and details.

We added contrasting linen napkins and a full length table runner in dusty blue cheesecloth fabric which was then layered with muted gold and clear candle holders in varying sizes. Laura from Mint and Moose Floral Design created stunning arrangements that featured scabious, muscari, eucalyptus, hydrangea, ranunculus and mixed these in with meadow inspired blooms to literally create a floral dream!

Place Settings

We used glass charger plates with a gold scalloped edge to give a refined finished to each place setting and teamed these up with beautiful stationery pieces designed by JB Creatives. Keeping the look minimalist, a modern calligraphy font was used on vellum paper to showcase a stationery suite consisting of place cards, menu cards, invitations and save the dates.

Edible favours are a popular choice and especially when they’re made by Poppy Pickering! Little love heart biscuits were positioned alongside the stationery to complete each setting.

Moongate Arch

In the morning room we styled out our foliage moongate arch with an abundance of candlelight in varying styles and filled out the base with floral meadow arrangements by Mint and Moose. The perfect photo backdrop for wedding guests to capture those all important selfies, or in this case, a fabulous backdrop for the bride who wore a signature Hayley Paige gown from Chloe Jane Bridalwear. A soft and elegant look was chosen for the bride’s hair and makeup which was styled by Chrys Chapman.

Wedding Cake

The most stunning wedding cake featuring intricate handmade flower heads designed by Poppy Pickering was positioned on an acrylic pedestal to give the appearance of the cake floating in the corner of the room. We staged this with florals and candlelight at the base to enhance and highlight with mood lighting and contrasting colours.
