How to add olive branches to your wedding decor
It’s time to start adding olive branches to your wedding decor! As we move through 2022 and into 2023, there’s a new foliage in town! Eucalyptus has reigned supreme for some time now but it’s close to being knocked off the top spot with lots of our clients choosing the mighty olive branch to bring a touch of the Mediterranean to their styling! Having derived from the pandemic which saw overseas holidays and weddings put on hold, many clients are looking to emulate the feel good summer vibes of the Mediterranean and what better way than incorporating some olive into your decor?!
Olive trees – why have them at your wedding?
Olive trees have long been associated with positive symbolic meanings and are thought to represent peace, wisdom, fertility, prosperity, luck and victory. Couples are choosing olive branches and olive trees as a reference point not only for the wedding ceremony and reception but also in the life they aspire to build together.
The tree of eternity
In the Greek tradition, when a child is born, an olive tree is planted. The olive tree and the child will grow up together and when the child becomes 6 years old, the olive tree will give it’s first fruit. It will grow with the family, survive through decades, and will still be there for all the coming generations to always remind them of the continuity and evolution of life. With a life expectancy of 300-600 years, the humble olive tree is also known as “the tree of eternity”.
Add olive to your chair decor
Subtle additions of this fabulous greenery can be added to your ceremony chairs or perhaps your top table chairs. Pew end arrangements of olive branches teamed with minimalist accessories such as contemporary lanterns, will provide a distinct, modern look to your aisle decor.
Olive bouquet
Don’t forget your bouquet! Olive branches interspersed amongst your florals will look very effective.
A thoughtful gesture
Simple touches of olive layered on your place settings are a great way to offer a thoughtful gesture to your guests.
Styled in the Mediterranean
For a truly Mediterranean edge, why not consider opting for more earthy tones combined with citrus fruits. Orange or lemon slices added to cake decor or table styling will not only look fabulous but will also bring a zesty summer scent to your styling!
Ask your Ambience stylist
Textured greenery and foliage are adding the wow factor to venues all over the UK. Whether you’re opting for a botanical themed wedding or you simply like the fresh, minimalist feel that using greenery creates, there’s so many ways in which you can incorporate this trend into your wedding decor. The great thing about using greenery and foliage is that it’s super versatile so never be afraid to ask your Ambience stylist how you can play around with this look.
