Will weddings go ahead in 2021? It’s the big question many couples are asking and with the roll out of the vaccine along with plans for mass lateral flow tests, things are set to significantly improve over the coming months.

If you’re newly engaged, maybe even a Christmas proposal, chances are you’re eager to get planning but lockdown has got you feeling like you have to hit the pause button.

How long should you wait to get started on your planning?

Availability for 2021 and 2022

The truth is that weddings are coming back and when they do they’re coming back in a big way, so be ready! Due to the high number of postponements from 2020 and the start of 2021, venues and wedding suppliers are seeing availability for 2021 and 2022 dates become incredibly limited so if you’d like to get married in the next couple of years we’d recommend you start doing your research now, particularly if you’re wanting a peak season date – anything from April to October.

How can I plan my wedding in lockdown?

We live in a digital world and there are so many incredible sources of inspiration out there that can help fire up your wedding planning mind until you can get out to the venue and meet with suppliers.

– Wedding venues are offering virtual show rounds and their websites may even have 360 degree video tours to give you a good idea of what the venue and space has to offer.

– Wedding venues are also offering low deposits to secure your date and if when you get to see the venue, you decide it’s not quite what you expected, they will then refund your deposit. *Be sure to ask on each individual venue’s policy before going ahead.

– The vast majority of suppliers have also taken their services online so book a virtual consultation and meet with your ideal wedding suppliers over Zoom. This way you can start to get an idea of what is available to you and what prices you can expect. This will greatly help you when it comes to budgeting and planning.

– Keep a look out for virtual wedding fayres! Event organisers and venues have been hosting some great virtual wedding fayres where you’ll get to see examples of what suppliers have to offer and all of their social media details. Shortlist the suppliers that catch your eye, give them a follow on Instagram or Facebook and check out their websites to start doing your research.

Couples planning their wedding have so many online resources available to them now, it’s hard to imagine how anyone planned a wedding without them in the past because we’re so spoilt now! We can see the latest trends, the most magnificent cake designs, floral displays, stunning bridalwear ranges! You name it, it’s there!

Check out places such as Pinterest where you can start pinning your favourite ideas and piece them all together.
