Intimate Weddings in the UK in 2021
Feb 06, 2021
Intimate weddings (guest numbers of approx 30-40) were fast becoming a popular trend before the Covid-19 pandemic but with restrictions coming into place for guest numbers across the UK in 2020 we saw couples even more determined to get married and celebrate in incredible intimate style than ever before! If you’re due to get married in 2021 then there’s no doubt that you’ll be alongside hundreds of thousands of other couples all eagerly waiting for a roadmap back to weddings in 2021.
With vaccinations rolling out on schedule we’re keeping our fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed that by the spring/summer of 2021 we’ll be able to see brides and grooms finally say their vows! We’re unsure at this stage as to what restrictions will mean for guest numbers and whether this may be more focused on venue capacity in the coming months but meetings are taking place in Downing Street next week to discuss a gradual return to weddings so hopefully further updates will be coming soon! What are the benefits to planning an intimate wedding
• Budget friendly
When you start planning your wedding day you’ll usually work out who will make the guest list and which venue can best accommodate for your numbers. This is when you start calculating things by pounds per head. If you’ve already budgeted for a larger wedding and are now opting for an intimate wedding day then you’ll no doubt have some extra money left over meaning that smaller weddings are much more budget friendly!
• More venues to choose from!
Hosting an intimate wedding opens you up to a wider choice of venues. There are many venues that offer spaces for both large and small weddings so do your research and don’t instantly dismiss a venue just thinking that it will only be able to hold a large party.
• Celebrate with your nearest and dearest
As an intimate wedding suggests, it’s far more intimate! Newlyweds with larger guest numbers rarely get to speak to all of their guests on their wedding day, never mind each other! Rather than celebrating with people you haven’t seen for years and years or sometimes have never even met before (in the case of someone’s plus one!) at a smaller wedding it will most likely be your closest family and friends meaning that it’ll be like sharing your day with one big family!
• Personalised touches and statement decor
An intimate wedding provides the perfect opportunity to host a ceremony and reception that is full of details and personal touches. Depending on the space that you have at your chosen venue, you might opt for a banquet style wedding breakfast with a luxurious rolling tablescape of candlelight and florals. Create elegant place settings with decorative charger plates and bring your personality and style through into your wedding stationery with bespoke menu cards and place names.
The sky is the limit! Look at focal areas such as fireplaces that can be adorned with decor or open spaces that you could perhaps style out with soft furnishings, florals and candlelight for those all important photographs with your friends and family!
