This week Ambience HQ have been looking at the ‘expensive’ wedding and we got talking about our favourite celebrities, how they looked and how much they had spent on their wedding day.
Celebrities, as we all know, usually have an unlimited amount of money available to them so did they go overboard on how much was spent on their ‘special day’?
Kate Middleton & Prince William
April 2011 saw our beautiful royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marry. The wedding is estimated to have cost in the region of £20 million with a large part of the budget being spent on the security of the wedding. With the masses of flowers and trees inside St Paul’s Cathedral, lavish food and expensive champagne it was all very fitting for the future King and Queen, nothing less than we would expect and our favourite! Kate Middleton’s wedding style is being duplicated by many brides.
James Hunt & Petra Ecclestone
The daughter of billionaire Bernie Ecclestone (the king of Formula), Petra, married british businessman James Hunt in August 2011 at Odescalchi Castle near Rome in Italy. The whole day was attended by royalty, celebrities and some of the richest people in society with the wedding costing in the region of £12 million. The dress worn by Petra was estimated to have cost £80,000. Her new husband on the wedding day gave his wife a wedding gift of the keys to a £260,000 Rolls Royce. WOW!
Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries
In August 2011 Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries at a cost of £6 million but unfortunately the marriage didn’t last ending in June 2013. It was rumoured that Kanye West had asked her to marry him long before she married Kris…the wonderful lives of celebrities! So, with designer dresses and spectacular jewellery, exquisite flower displays you can see where the money had been spent.
Wayne Rooney & Colleen Nolan
Our famous couple Wayne Rooney and Colleen Nolan were married in a fairytale wedding in Villa Durazzo in the resort of Santa Magherita Ligure in June 2008. The wedding took place over four days with lots of luxury, even an appearance of Westlife for the entertainment. The wedding and celebrations is estimated to have cost £5 million.
Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel
Justin Timberlake broke a lot of hearts when he married Jessica Biel in October 2012 and he says it was wonderful to have married his best friend. The celebrations lasted for over a week with lots of fun and activities to keep all of their guests entertained. The wedding took place in Italy were they hired the whole property and surrounding buildings to keep out any unwanted guests. Justin and Jessica’s wedding came with a price tag of £4 million.
Liza Minnelli & David Guest
£2.5 million was spent on Liza Minnelli and David Guest’s wedding nuptials, with Michael Jackson as their best man and Elizabeth Taylor as Maid of Honour. With all the glitz of the wedding and being entertained by Tony Bennett their marriage lasted for 1 year.
Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise
The beautiful Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise, everyone’s favourite Top Gun Actor, in November 2006 with the marriage sadly coming to an end in August 2012. Everyone remembers the dancing on the sofa from Tom declaring his love for Katie with Oprah. Both were dressed in Armani wedding outfits and wedding entertainment was provided by Jennifer Lopez and Andrea Bocelli. We thought it would have cost more but the price tag was £1.8million.
Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman
November 2005 saw Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman marry in a vineyard in Napa Valley. With fantastic fashions and great music coupled with an all night party gave this wedding a cost of £1.2million. Unfortunately another celebrity wedding that has come to end, 5 years later in April 2005.
Madonna & Guy Ritchie
At a cost of £900,000 Madonna married brit boy Guy Ritchie in December 2000 in a Scottish castle which was exclusively hired by the couple, with their marriage lasting 8 years.
Jennifer Aniston & Brad Pitt
And finally we come to celebrity couple Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt who married in July 2000 in a Malibu estate having a Frank Sinatra impersonator and fireworks. Unfortunately the fireworks were no longer when the couple departed in October 2005.
It seems that most celebrity weddings don’t last long and that they don’t take their wedding vows seriously but they certainly take their venue styling serious which is what we like to see.
