Real Wedding Feature – Marc and Emily at Middleton Lodge

July 18, 2020

This week we’re bringing you inspiration direct from newlyweds Emily and Marc who got married in February 2020 at Middleton Lodge. A beautiful chic wedding styled with a neutral colour palette and pops of dusty pink to enhance the exposed brickwork and surroundings of the venue. We spoke to Emily and Marc as they look back on their special day.

Middleton Lodge is an 18th century Georgian country estate set in 200 acres of private North Yorkshire countryside. Just a five minute walk from the main house is the wonderfully romantic Fig House, with views across the restored Walled Garden. English country garden weddings are idyllic in the Fig House, styled with velvet greens, real fig trees and garden antiques.

“We got married at Middleton Lodge in the Fig House. I found the venue on Facebook it just randomly popped up on my news feed and I said to my partner we need to view this venue. The minute we saw it we were both blown away it was the most beautiful place with a walled garden which made it so private and just ours for the day!”

Emily knew she wanted lots of flowers to compliment the beautiful garden area which was on full view throughout their day. Banquet style tables were adorned with fresh foliage runners and florals provided by florist, Joanne’s Flowers of Birtley in Durham. Emily said “Our family have been buying flowers from Joanne for years including my dad’s funeral flowers which made it a must to have her be a part of our day. She is so professional and literally makes every floral display look out of this world. She knows exactly what you want and how to make it happen.”

Although I did a lot of the décor myself, Emma from Ambience Venue Styling Teesside was a massive help with the finishing touches that I just did not have the time to do. She helped me with ideas when I was in a panic and thought the day wouldn’t look how I wanted it to. They made it stress free for us both while making our venue look incredible!

-As soon as our guests arrived they all said we knew this was Marc and Emily’s wedding by the way we had decided to have our wedding décor, everything was linked to us and our lives from growing up to now. It was done to perfection and not a thing out of place (I like everything a certain way haha!)

Working towards providing a sustainable, eco-friendly menu for their clients, the venue offer a seasonal wedding feast inspired by produce sourced from the estate and Yorkshire countryside.

“Another love of ours is good food and Middleton Lodge certainly pride themselves on their tasty dishes. It’s homely food mixed with fine dining and a lot of it is grown on the grounds which we loved!”

“My dress was from YAP Bridal in Newcastle. It was the second shop I went to when searching for the perfect dress and the service was outstanding, the lady actually picked my dream dress for me from just describing what I wanted and it was better than I could have imagined. I chose a gown made by designer Rosa Clara from Barcelona, her designs are so beautiful. My bridesmaid dresses were actually from ASOS. They have a lovely range of bridalwear at a reasonable price and looked great on all three of my gorgeous girls.”

“We chose Howard wing (the best entertainer we have ever seen) to be part of the entertainment throughout the ceremony and reception. They were absolutely amazing and they brought the wedding to life making people dance, sing, laugh and pretty much made our wedding the perfect day!”

Advice for engaged couples from Emily and Marc

A useful tip for all couples is that early planning is key, don’t leave things to the last minute! There is not one thing that we would change about our wedding day, we loved every second. One thing I would suggest is don’t get so wrapped up in it all that you forget to enjoy it as it goes so quickly!
