Style Edit: Wedding Reception Styling

May 02, 2020

If you’re currently wedding planning then we’re here to help you when it comes to your wedding reception.Transform your venue with our top wedding decoration ideas, whether you’ve chosen an industrial barn, hotel venue or stately home!

1. Style and layout of tables

Dependent on the size of your wedding party and the space in which you have, consider whether you will opt for round tables with perhaps a top table/sweetheart table or for banquet style dining – a new top wedding trend that is proving to be very popular with 2020 and 2021 brides and grooms. Consisting of trestle tables laid out in rows and the centre of them adorned with candles, greenery garlands and flowers, the banquet layout is a stunning choice!

Don’t forget to think about how you might want to display your table plan. Seating plans are one piece of decor that are guaranteed to be noticed as guests look to find out where they’re seated.

2. Table Linen

Check whether your venue or caterer provides table linen – tablecloths and napkins.
Top tip! – Floor length cloths are a must when it comes to hiding unsightly table legs. When it comes down to the little things, this is a big deal!

Another big wedding trend with couples is to opt for coloured or statement linen. Introduce contrasting colours onto your tables with napkins in your accent colour or for a more understated look, opt for a complimenting tone.

3. Place settings

The way you set your table is important because it influences the atmosphere and feeling that your guests will have when they take their seats. For super impactful place settings we suggest layering. Start with a decorative charger plate as your base layer.

Add to this your beautifully folded napkin with personalised wedding stationery – perhaps a menu card neatly presented on top of the napkin or with your place names positioned accordingly.

Are you considering wedding favours? Edible favours for weddings are a great option as your guests can then enjoy them there and then rather than leaving them behind.

4. Centrepieces

All the same or a mix of two designs? Tall or low level table decor? There’s lots to consider when it comes to your wedding tables and the style and layout of your tables will have an influence over your decisions.

Tablescapes styled with an eclectic mix of tealight holders, candlelight, bud vases, foliage and florals create a very striking look and are very effective for banquet designs and top table decor.

Blossom trees, candelabra, tall floral arrangements, floating candle arrangements, foliage runners, lanterns, hurricane vases and hanging floral installations are just some of the options that our clients are choosing for their wedding decor and we have lots of images and ideas over on our IG page at @Ambiencevenuestylinguk

5. Feature Decor

Flower walls, backdrops, light up letters, neon signage, lighting – If your venue provides you a blank canvas and you want to put your stamp on the space with wedding decorations then these options all provide the perfect opportunity for your guests to get those selfies for Instagram! Perhaps you want a feature backdrop to go behind your top table? If so then flower walls, wedding arches and blossom tree canopy arches are a brilliant choice!
